Builder: Aeolian-Skinner Organ Co., Opus 1477, 1965 Renovation Austin Organ Co., 1984 Manuals: 3 Ranks: 58 Pipes: 3180 Action: Electropneumatic Notes: The Aeolian-Skinner organ in Uihlein Hall was donated by the Miller Brewing Company. The entire instrument is stored beneath the stage in a specially-constructed chamber. When the instrument is in use, the stage floor is taken up and the organ is lifted to stage-level by a single-piston hydraulic lift. Due to height considerations under the stage, the 32' Sub Principal was Haskelled (in effect, folded inside upon itself). In 1984, the Austin Organ Company renovated the Great, Positiv, and Pedal divisions. Years worth of dust falling through the stage floor as well as moisture from the adjacent Milwaukee River had taken its toll on the action and pipe work and a major cleaning was necessary. With the consultation of Organist James Burmeister together with the late Calvin Hampton, some re-voicing was carried-out at that time and the 32' Sub Principal was loudened. No information is available on the changes made by Austin or the specification.
