St. James on the Parkway

3225 E. Minnehaha Parkway
Minneapolis, MN

Builder: Bradley Kerns, ca 1969
Steer & Turner, 1890

Manuals: 2
Ranks: originally 15
Action: Mechanical

Notes: The organ was moved from First Presbyterian in Stillwater and installed on a steel cantilever at the back of the church. A 3-manual keydesk was added (upper manual electric) to control the significantly modified organ. The third manual was planned to be a Solo. The keydesk/console faced forward, looking over a Positiv between the larger Great and Pedal cases. Many pipes did not fit the original spacing and were left out. The Positiv had lost at least one facade pipe when it fell to the floor below, and it was replaced with a quintadena spray painted silver. Positiv stop action was by toggle switches on a little floating piece of plywood.
Parts of this organ became the core of the Patterson organ at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Sunfish Lake.
The church is projected to be closing after Easter, 2020.
