The original typed contract (now in the collection of the Brown County Historical Society, New Ulm, MN) reads as follows: Mankato Minesota December 19th 1893. This agreement made and entered into by and between H H Vogelpohl and J C Spaeth parties of the first part, of New Ulm Minn, and the Vestry of St. Johns Episcopal Church of the City of Mankato Minn parties of the second part, WITNESSETH: The parties of the first part hereby agree to and with the said second parties, to build and set up complete in every detail, in the Church aforesaid at Mankato Minn, A two manuel Pipe Organ, according to the specifications set forth in their printed catalogue, and described and numbered as Number 12, and in addition to said printed specifications Size number 12 aforesaid, 2 foot piccolo metal 58 pipes, are to be added to said specifications and built in said organ aforesaid by said first parties, Said first parties further agree to build on the side of the organ room fronting the seating portion of said church a continuation of the front of said organ, the ornamental front pipe part, but the same is not to be connected with the organ proper as a part of its mechanical construction or working part, except in so far as to give the same semblance of being a portion of said Organ proper, to those sitting in the said Church during a service therein, and giving to the organ when finished, and viewed from the front part of said Church practically a square shape, and to be properly paneled and shaped to the diference in floor levels, but the metal pipes to be used in the construction of aforesaid false end work fronting the audience, are not to be speaking pipes so called, while those in the front of the organ proper, are to be speaking pipes, The case of said organ to be made of cedar wood, Oil finished, Cabinet work to be about 5 feet six inches high, with cornish projecting 5 inches on which ornamented pipes are to be placed, making Organ finished from 14 feet to 16 feet high, and about 8 feet 6 inches in width and about 6 feet in depth, said ornamentation of front pipes to be of a color to be furnished said first parties, and gold, and of an appropriate design, the colorig and finish of the entire organ to be in harmony with the color of the present inside finish of said Church, The voicing of said organ shall be of proper pitch for Church singing, and all tones shall be smooth and harmonious, The said Organ to be constructed of the best material throughout, and in the most thorough and workmanlike manner and the same is to be completed and ready for use by Easter Sunday 1894 except in case of sickness of one or both of said first parties incapacitating him or them from work during said time, in which case the Organ is to be completed as soon thereafter as possible but not later than the first day of April 1894 The first parties hereby warrant the aforesaid organ to be first class in every respect, and of the highest standard of excellence in material and workmanship and said first parties agree [line(s) missing] in material or workmanship in the same, that is brought to their notice during said term of five years, and will also keep said organ in tune and the working parts thereof in proper order during said time, all free of cost to said second parties, Identified by John J.
