Builder: M.P. Möller, Opus: 11245, 1978 Originally M.P. Möller, Opus 8968, 1957 Manuals: 3 Stops: 53 Ranks: 61 Action: Electropneumatic Notes from Jeff Scofield: The organ is installed in a side gallery of the rectangular room. The choir seating used to be stepped down from gallery to floor level, with console on the main floor level. That area was rebuilt to become an actual gallery. It was perhaps at this time that the drawknob console was dropped [from a lift] during moving and damaged beyond repair. The damaged console was replaced in 1989 by a new Holtkamp-style console as Möller Op. M-6311. Notes from David Engen: Robert Kendall of St. Olaf College served as consultant for the 1978 organ. When asked why he directed the church to Moller, I was told that he was trying to "replicate the effect of the Casavant organ at Central Lutheran" in Minneapolis, and that he felt Moller could do that. He and I agreed to disagree. Charles Harder was present for a recording session with the Dale Warland Singers (before the gallery construction), and he told me the leakage was so bad they stuffed pew cushions under the chests.
