The first building constructed was the rectory, built in 1891. Sacred Heart Grade School was built in 1904, and the church was completed four years later in 1908. The high school was completed in 1929. The first resident pastor was Rev. Patrick S. O’Connor. The church building was badly damaged by a tornado in May 1968 and a fire in June 1979.
