(The fire was largely in the tower, and an elevator was installed where the fire consumed part of the structure) The organ was removed from the sanctuary, cleaned and completely restored by Casavant Freres and revoiced under the supervision of tonal director Gerhard Brunzema. More recently, the structure was found to be unsafe the the congregation could not meet in the building until new posts and cross braces were installed to keep the walls vertical and prevent the roof from collapsing. The previous organ was installed in a chamber on the left side of the chancel. Two of its ranks were repurposed and installed in the pedal of the Hendrickson organ in Jensen Hall at Luther College.
