Notes: The organ is installed in a movable chamber on stage; the organ and chamber together weigh approximately 174 tons. The instrument moves forward on stage on 16 steel wheels on four steel rails, powered by a rigid push-chain drive at a rate of 1 foot per minute. It takes about 30 minutes to roll the organ into place for Madison Symphony Orchestra concerts into either a “regular” or “choral” configuration. When not in use, the organ stores in a “garage” at the rear of the stage, with doors that hinge out from the main structure.
