Builder: Wicks, Opus 3811, 1957
Manuals: 2
Ranks: 17
Action: Wicks Direct Electric (c)

Notes: The current instrument is based on a unit organ installed by Wicks in 1957 of 5 ranks built within the original Schaefer walnut case, though it has been added to twice since its installation.

The parish’s first instrument was likely a tubular pneumatic organ built in 1901 by Schaefer Organ Co. of of Schleisingerville, WI. We do not have the original specification, but guess it was around ten ranks based on case size with an exposed great in front of a swell, with pedal in back or on the sides.

The Swell flute rank we believe is from the original Schaefer instrument, which though significantly larger, was experiencing mechanical failures by the early 1950s.

In 1984, several ranks and stops were added (the builder is not known) to better support congregational singing, and these are denoted with a single star.  A 5-rank organ in this space would be significantly undersized, so the Wicks has always need more volume. Two of the added ranks are on an added windchest in the Great chamber.

In 1990, several more ranks including the exposed division were added by Charles Fruhstuck of St. Paul MN. The mixture and Festival Trumpet are on the roof of the Wicks chambers and overly benefit from ceiling reflection and overbalance the rest of the organ. The new principals (8' and 4') are immediately behind the facade, in front of the shutters.

Joseph Clarke (parish organist), David Engen, and Organ Historical Society as of 2009.
