Mr. and Mrs. Gates lived in the Gates mansion. Later she inherited the mansion, with its Aeolian from her deceased husband’s estate. Mr. Gates died on a hunting trip to California with Wild Bill Hitchcock. Shortly after her first husband died, “Widow Gates” married a Mr. Harold L. Judd. Mr. Judd moved into the Gates mansion, along with "Widow Gates" (now Mrs. Judd) and the Aeolian! Later, Mr. Judd also died and Mrs. Gates-Judd moved to her Florida "winter home" permanently. The Minneapolis house was abandoned. Later it was used by the Junior League of Minneapolis for large functions (the house was almost 50,000 square feet). Eventually, the organ was moved (two places) and the original house was razed. Organ is extant at the Redeemer Lutheran Church
