Christ the King Lutheran Church

222 Pfau Street
Mankato, MN 56001

Builder: Robert D. Hoppe & Co (2006)
Manuals: 3
Ranks: 13
Action: Electro-mechanical

Notes: The church gives the impression of being round, yet it has eight sides. It is located not far from Bethany College, Mankato State University and the hospital.  Like many new churches designed without input from an organ builder, the balcony does not have enough ceiling height for an effective pipe organ. There were various electronic organs in the balcony for many years. Rob Hoppe's solution was a tall case to the left of the chancel, moving all musicians from the balcony to the main floor, similar to Holtkamp's solution for Bethlehem Lutheran in downtown Mankato.

The church has always had an active music program and the senior choir produced an LP album not too long after the church was built.

The organ is a combination pipe/digital organ, with digital voices and console appointments by Viscount of Italy.

In April, 2011 an 8' Tromba was installed in the pedal, replacing one of the 32' digital voices (not shown below). An 8' Klarinette is planned to replace one of the manual digital reeds. Digital voices marked "*".
