Builder: Lyon & Healy (1906) Manuals: 2 Stops: 14 Ranks: 13 Action: Slider chests, mechanical action Notes: St. Mary, Star of the Sea, a Polish Catholic Church in Duluth, was dedicated in November, 1883, but burned down in 1905. The congregation rebuilt, and ordered a "catalogue" mechanical organ (by mail) from Lyon & Healy, a Chicago manufacturer of harps, pianos, and mechanical organs. It was in use by early 1907, but about the same time the Diocese of Duluth locked the Polish Catholics out of the building because of doctrinal differences. The Poles built St. Josephat the following year, and St. Mary remained part of the Diocese of Duluth. -- Samuel Black, 2015 -- Organ Historical Society Organ Database. Francis L. Reed, organist.
